Both houses presented their performances, with Gyalu House once again emerging as this year’s winner. A major highlight of the event was the return of Garlu, an ancient Tibetan court dance and song tradition, to the TIPA stage after many years. Speaking about this year’s Yarkyi, the TIPA Director said the institute had decided to skip the entertainment segment as a gesture of solidarity with the late Tibetan independence activist Lobga Rangzen. As a result, this year’s Yarkyi focused entirely on cultural preservation and the promotion of traditional Tibetan performing arts.
