Tibet Times Marks 30 Years of Tibetan Journalism
DHARAMSALA, September 15, 2026 — Tibet Times marked the 30th anniversary of its founding on Tuesday with a commemorative event at Gangchen Kyishong, bringing together members of the Tibetan community to reflect on three decades of journalism and discuss the future of Tibetan media.
Penpa Tsering, Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration, attended the event as chief guest. In his remarks, the Sikyong commended Tibet Times for its work in Tibetan journalism and encouraged the organization to continue publishing honest and high-quality news in the years ahead.
The anniversary celebration also saw the release of a new book compiling 115 selected articles published by Tibet Times. The collection brings together a selection of the news organization's reporting from across its three decades of work.
The publication was released as part of the anniversary programme, highlighting the organization's contribution to documenting developments and issues concerning Tibetans over the years.
An afternoon panel discussion brought together experts to examine the future of Tibetan journalism. The discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities facing Tibetan media as the journalism landscape continues to change.
