DHARAMSALA, 29 Sept: Tibetan activist Tashi Thakchoe, 59, on Monday completed a Delhi-Dharamsala run-and-walk, arriving at McLeod Ganj Main Square after eight days on the road to raise awareness about Tibet and appeal for greater participation in the Tibetan freedom movement.
Thakchoe, a member of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) Hunsur, began his journey from New Delhi on 20 September. After arriving in Dharamsala, he said he was relieved to have reached safely despite the challenges he encountered along the way.
He said he encountered individuals he described as being under the influence of drugs, as well as people who attempted to rob him, during the journey. He also fell ill at one point and had to receive intravenous glucose before continuing.
